Lead Vocals, Bass Guitar
Masters Apprentice’s, Stealers, Incredible Penguins,
Mighty Fine Guys, Songwriter and Jingle Producer.
Take one look at Wayne "Morry" Matthews and you know he’s lived life in the fast lane. A powerful singer with a truck load of gravel, an accomplished & respected Bass player and a well known party animal to boot, Morry has been an integral member of the Melbourne music scene for most of his life.
A life he describes as being the ultimate in diversity.
Morry played bass for The Incredible Penguins for five years with the boys from New Zealand’s Mother Goose, becoming hugely successful right around the nation
before going on to tour Australia for three nationwide reunion runs with 60’s rock icons: The Master’s Apprentices.
He then signed a production deal for his solo material with Peter Blyton (Producer: Keith Urban, Choirboys & Lime Spiders)
which then took him to the U.S.A, living & learning his craft for a time in the Bay area of San Francisco.
Morry returned to Australia and formed the respected covers band Mighty Fine Guys. He has since performed with international artists: Sir Bob Geldof, Tina Arena and Graham Bonnet, and locally with: Ron Martini, Wendy Stapleton and Mick Pealing. However, many Melbournites will remember him most of all as front man for The Stealers, a band known for their incredible “Eagle’s–like” harmonies, through the early 90’s.
Blues music & Country based rock, his biggest influences, come out clearly in the music & lyrics he writes...He's got it all.
